Harry Harrison OBITUARY

Harry L. Harrison, Jr. Sept. 30, 1920 – Dec. 23, 2012 Resident of San Francisco Born in Emeryville, CA. on September 30, 1920, descended from the Wampanoag tribe of the Algonquin Federation and a pirate in Jean Lafitte’s army, Harry Louis Harrison, Jr. passed away on December 23, 2012 at the age of 92. An Army staff sergeant during World War II, Harry returned to civilian life and worked for the San Francisco municipal railway, renowned jazz club Fax’s, and eventually retired from the United States Postal Service. Harry was also a long-time vendor at Bay Area sporting events and concerts, recognized by fans in Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, Florida, and all over California. At SF Giant’s and Oakland A’s baseball games, professional and college football games, wrestling matches, and concerts, fans asked to take pictures with him. Harry was profiled in numerous Bay Area newspapers. His most well-known quote: “stay busy, keep smiling and enjoy life at any age.” A consummate bridge player, accomplished skier, New York times crossword puzzle enthusiast, prolific fine arts painter and photographer, Harry is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Elaine, his sons David and Ronald, his daughter Roxann, his grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous relatives on the west and east coast.
